Ingredients for a Sick Saturday

By now you've probably realized that I meant sick literally... did the cough drops give me away? I've caught Ben's winter cold (flu?) and am spending the foreseeable weekend on the couch doing blog maintenance and using all the tissue to blow my nose. The weekends are usually my outfit photo-shoot, create blog content, get caught up on cleaning time and so I am disappointed to be rendered un-motivated and useless at errands and house maintenance. Ben was sick last weekend and I spent it taking care of him (made a delicious tortellini soup) so nothing got done then. We're getting starved for the outside world, contact with friends, and germ-free living.

Today we've planned to make a slow cooker pasta and chicken soup (ingredient list written out above), I am getting caught up on the latest issue of my favorite magazine (Real Simple), and playing with my 50mm lens. It's one of my favorite and cheap! lenses for my Canon. Lately I've been using it for great depth-of-field play and portraiture of food, items, and myself! My gratuitous portraits are above and demonstrate the DoF I was playing with with the lens. In all fairness, I photoshopped out the redness of my nose! :)

Other fun discoveries this week were font creation through iFontMaker  on my iPad. The "sick saturday" text on the diptych above is my own handwriting, created rapidly on the app. It's amazing! Totally recommend it if you have an iPad and are interested in creating easy fonts that you can publish and install within a half-hour.
