Top: Target; Skirt: H&M (similar 1, similar 2) ; Shoes: Franco Sarto via TJ Maxx; Belt: American Eagle
This is the second look I have copy-catted from a Pinterest pin - this one to be exact! I'm not sure how successful I ultimately was, but I was thrilled to pull some inspiration (denim + floral pencil skirt) from a random pin I came across and not my closet in the early weekday morning. I would love to try this outfit with a lighter skirt and a less structured chambray in the future! I ended up loving the western feel that the belt and denim lent my workday look and took it to the next level adding in a bunch of silver and a turquoise antique ring. Sometimes it's nice to play themed dress-up for a day.
Speaking of playing dress up, I dressed up my hair for this look too, loosely curling it with my curling iron. I ended up somewhere between frizzy and beachy waves and am convinced my hair can't do anything at all that isn't its natural, somewhat wavy/somewhat straight, state of being. Do you guys have hair maintenance issues? I can't braid my hair without it looking like a rat's nest, can't put it in anything but a basic bun, can't pin it, clip it, tie it in a bow... nada. Even when I straighten my hair, it just looks like I blowdryed it with care. I am constantly envious of pins I see where girls can tie their hair in innovative ways or create beehives out of thin air. Someone, please help me!

Hmmm. I have naturally very straight hair and when my hair used to be super long (waist length) I used to tie it back into a bun at the base of my neck at night. In the morning I would up with wavy hair with more body and I didn't need much to tame the frizzies.

Love this look on you.. and as far as hair goes, I use a leave in conditioner and shine serum from Suave... in the Keratin line.. I love them! Seems to help with the frizz, and then for beachy waves try a Sea Salt Spray... Good luck!

Gorgeous! Absolutely love your skirt and shoes.
ReplyDeleteThe print on your skirt is SO pretty! My hair doesn't curl well with a curling iron...the only thing that works for me is the no-heat headband curls (look it up on YouTube!).

Great ensemble. Pinterest is always like a treasure chest of inspiration. Love the watercolor look of the skirt paired with chambray. I need a chambray shirt in my life asap! Also, my hair either when blow dried or when left to air is always some sort of wavy craziness... sometimes more than others. Haha. - Carla

I love pinning outfit inspiration, but I've just started to actually try recreating outfits! I love the mixtures of blues in this outfit.

I have 2 hairstyles - air-dried curly mess or ponytailed curly mess. I'm also jealous of all the fancy hairstyles other people allegedly do.
ReplyDeleteFirst time visitor to your blog! Your freckles are killer! I must say I can rock a pretty badass beehive. Maybe it's about time I do a "how to"!

Popping over from Mix & Match linkup. First, love this outfit. The shoes and belt are such an unusual addition! Second, I think your hair looks lovely! My hair is short so I can't do much to it right now, but when it is long I can't really braid it either. It looks like a giant mess. To get curls I twist my hair in about 6-8 twists and clip so that they are going across my head. I either sleep with them in or walk around for a few hours letting them airdry in the morning. I take out and just fuss a little with it. It's been working for me!
ReplyDeleteYes yes yes, love!
ReplyDeleteI love chambray a little too much lately.
