Dress: BCBG (similar, similar splurge); Sandals: Forever 21 (similar, similar 2, similar 3)
I went to the dentist today after much harassment and prompting by my dentist's receptionist - I was overdue by about, oh, six months. I had to muster up the courage to finally call them and allow them to poke at my teeth for an hour while laying partially upside down wearing weird sunglasses. I don't have a problem with having plaque-free teeth, or a problem with getting free toothbrushes (who doesn't love dentist swag?), but I do hate being yelled at about flossing for the better part of an hour. When are dentists and dental hygienists going to give it up?! I promise I brush my teeth more than twice a day. I promise I floss about twice a week and more often when I've been eating something particularly stringy, like corn. I don't suck on candy all day long and I've never had a cavity. I'm in pretty good shape, I'd say. But I can promise you that I am never going to floss three times a day. I'm just not.
After intense flossing harassment, I adopted a hang-dog look and they figured they could kick me when I was down by telling me that my gums are larger than normal. What?! My gums are larger than normal? Is there a normal gum largeness they're measuring this by? They then said I could always opt for some elective gum modification procedure where they would shave off my gums in order to make my teeth appear longer. :| Needless to say, my short teeth and I felt weird for the rest of the day. My gums didn't seem to care, large and in charge as they are.

I never floss my teeth and always get yelled at by the dentist, even though I have never had a cavity or needed braces! Love this dress so much and the color incorporated in it!

Ha, I share the dental fears - although it was much much longer since my last dental visit and I just went last week. It wasn't so bad, thank goodness. I may not have gone back!

Hahah this was a funny post :)
ReplyDeleteI just went to the dentist today and she also gave me the flossing lecture. You're right, they can't expect us to floss three times a day! It's so time consuming sometimes.
Anyways lovely outfit, the colour of the dress is gorgeous!

This is GORGEOUS. I think your freckles are my favorite... and the flowers... just everything is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think dentists know they can get away with being scary and giving lectures because we have no choice but to go to them! Its always entertaining to hear them question you like a police detective about why you don't floss after lunch. Umm...because I have a job, that doesn't include dental hygiene? Fantastic dress for your figure, in my next life I want to have long legs like yours!

Stunning color on you!! And love that plant. The dentist is the worst. UGH. Thinking about it makes me squirm!!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures! =)

LOL! Oh lord, dentists are hilarious. I have gotten the "you've got onset gingivitis" so I floss every night now. But only because I don't want gingivitis and I was getting close to it. Not because I'm bored and have nothing else to do. It's such a pain in the butt! But otherwise your dress is so nice, I love the colours!
ReplyDeleteMe and the dentist are besties. And by that, I mean, I have so many cavities I can't count them anymore. I brush, 2 times a day, and floss, a lot more than my husband. It's ridiculous. ANYHOW I absolutely adore this post, I'm featuring it in my 16 feature
ReplyDeleteI am in LOVE with your dress!
