Sweater: Forever 21 (similar spend, similar splurge); Top: Gap (similar 1, similar 2): Pants: Paige Denim; Shoes: Shoedazzle
Are you getting tired of these jeans? I'm not. And I'm never taking them off. So there. On to bigger and better things (and topics that aren't remixing).
I'm on a kinda-sorta-spending freeze and have been for the past kinda-sorta two months (minus my Steven Alan sample sale slip up - my new dip-dyed silk blouse comes tomorrow). I am trying to save money and get my finances in tip-top shape prior to quitting my job and taking a bit of a break in between that job and the next position that starts two weeks later. Plus we're moving which costs an odd amount of money (probably because I always throw away the condiments when we move and my god, spices are expensive). Plus we are increasing our rent costs. Plus we are moving to a city/state with income tax. Plus we have been going crazy with fun spending for the past two years.
We took a very liberal, pro-fun approach to the past two years. We knew Ben's medical school was fast approaching and we'd be tight on finances. We knew that once medical school was done, we'd be moving toward some for-real adulthood and savings would need to go toward a home or college education savings for children. And so we decided that we needed to enjoy ourselves for the two year break. We needed to buy new things and amass new clothes and eat out and go on trips and enjoy fancy hotels. Because it wasn't going to be a reality in the future. And that was an amazing decision, I think. We've had so much fun and my wardrobe is disgracefully overflowing. I don't regret a single purchase (well maybe that Labworks sweater I got that made me look like Big Bird...).
So it's downsize time. Time to clean the wardrobe, streamline it, make the blog profitable, cut down on spending, and eat in. I think we're going to have a lot of fun embarking on this new adventure, so different from the past few years. A toast to scrimping, saving, and remixing the wardrobe. I'm ready to welcome these pants (and the rest of this outfit) into my familiar group of friends.
