Going Downtown

Top: Express (similar); Skirt: Nordstrom (on sale); Shoes: Franco Sarto via TJ Maxx (similar); Purse: Coach

These pictures were taken right after work, walking home through downtown Portland. It's so nice to be working downtown. On my lunch break I can head out to the food trucks and just about any restaurant as the city is so small and walkable. Nordstrom (where I bought this skirt on my lunch break the other day), J.Crew, Gap, and the Loft are only three blocks away. I pass about 12 Starbucks and countless other hipster espresso shops in the blocks surrounding work. And to top it off: amazing people watching. The one downside? I carry my heels with me and change into them in the elevator. I think they feel left out of my Portland experience.

Ben hasn't started school yet, so he has been walking me to and from work (a great workout for him - it's about 1.3 miles each way and he does it twice a day). We have been enjoying the Portlandia scene play out before us. On the way to work, it's basically a survival of the fittest game as we dodge bicyclists that have no respect for the laws of the road, sidewalk, pedestrian lives, etc. On the way back, it's usually a good scene along the waterfront. Today it was a cop car and a bunch of emergency personnel standing over a park hoodlum laying on the sidewalk. Keepin' it interesting in Portland. And on the horizon are some family and friend visits that will help us ring in the new city in social style. Yay, Portland!
