We just spent a whirlwind day down in Portland and are home safely and happily in the messy apartment. We snagged a few photos today between meeting with my new colleagues and enjoying happy hour at a darling french country restaurant in the middle of the city. It was called (of course!) Petit Oiseau or Little Bird Bistro. I enjoyed a glass of white wine and macaroni gratin and Ben had a green salad (after poaching from the food trucks and drinking beer while I was at my meeting) and a great IPA from Bend, Oregon. We were laughing the entire lunch because the restaurant was covered in birds (anyone watch Portlandia?) and the waiter nearly described the oyster's origins, families, and feelings when listing the specials. It was all we could do not to burst into laughter and sing "The dream of the nineties is alive in Portland" song. They did finish lunch with the sweetest and teeniest apricot macarons - complimentary at the restaurant. They were so adorable there were people outside taking photos with the teensy cookies and we couldn't resist either. 

I am getting so excited for new restaurants to enjoy, glasses of wine to drink, and shops to explore. We wished we had more time in the city today, but were worried about rush hour on the way home and booked it back to Tacoma.
