The more I think about the coming months of chilly weather and slanted rain, the less I get excited about clothes. It's the time of year when I want to just wrap up in a blanket and call it a day. But late fall and winter happen to be the best times of year to get dressed up in luxurious colors, prints, textures and fabrics. Summer is no time for metallic brocade or woolens. It's no time for camel hair coats or tall leather boots.
So in brainstorming fall and winter styles that I can make work in my dismal climate, I sometimes have to go the luxe lookbook route to get inspiration. The outfit collection below incorporates some necessary holiday style - a sparkly statement necklace, a hint of metallic, the coat color of the season (pastels like the one below in cream and light blue), and some flats that don't encourage slipping on the black ice but are still spiced up with studs. Bring on the gloom.
