Bad Habits

I won't plague you with my trying-to-go-buy-an-engagement-ring-saga except to tell you that we still haven't gone shopping due to inclement weather and pesky medical school exams (darn you, Ben!). But it did bring up another, more interesting topic when I was brainstorming blog posts today... bad habits.

I am a nail biter - obvious to anyone that's around me, known me, or seen pictures of my terrible stubby nails. I think it's primarily because I'm an anxious person and always need to be fidgeting about something. Much to the detriment of my fingers and my teeth, my anxiety took the form of nail biting from a really early age. I've stopped for very brief periods of time and grown out my nails, but it never lasts. I actually now dislike the feeling of a nail growing long. What's wrong with me?!

I'm currently on a three-week no-nail biting period of success. Woohoo! I stopped biting them about the time Ben proposed so that I could show people my ring/go shopping for a ring without subjecting friends, instagram, and salespeople with my hideous nails! And if there is anything to encourage some pretty nails, it's a diamond. I painted my nails yesterday again (I need to keep them painted and pristine to keep from gnawing them off in a fit of joy anxiety) and they look so lovely in bright red.

Here's to trying to kick bad habits, as hard as they may be to boot out the door, and for all those that celebrate the many variations of February 14th, happiest Valentine's, Pal-entine's (for friends!), Gal-entine's (for lady besties), and Single's Awareness Day!
