I welcomed 2015 in at a friend's house, surrounded by good food, even better champagne, and with fantastic company. What better way to say hello to a brand new year than laughing, toasting, and stuffed full of crostini and blue cheese? We haphazardly counted down (missed the countdown by about 5 seconds, whoops) and watched some fireworks go off across the river before heading home to let the champagne wear off before we fell asleep.
I thought a lot about New Year's yesterday (obviously). I think it was the first one where I completely felt the magic of New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. It is perhaps the most optimistic holiday - everyone reflecting on the year, on their triumphs and struggles, ushering in a new year full of promise, and making resolutions. The sense of reflection and optimism surrounding the transition from one year to the next is inspiring and sometimes humbling. Looking back at all that we accomplished, whether the year was wonderful or trying, proves just how much we can endure and just how much we can do if we put our minds to it.
I'm so looking forward to 2015. I think that it will be a year of progress and goals achieved. I wrote a bit about what I want to do this year yesterday and I'm eager to get started on that! So no more dawdling today with this tinge of a champagne headache - time to get out there and create!
