I feel like I walked a million miles this weekend. And in these Rockport flats. Quite literally, my body was #PoweredbyRockport from West-side to East-side, across bridges and along waterfront walks, to a distillery tasting event and then to wander in the beautiful sunshine. On Friday, I wore these flats to walk in to work, an easy mile and some change. They're cushy - the bottom has a lot of give and comfort that doesn't hurt the soles of my feet like some of my other, less sturdy flats. After a full day of wandering around the office in them, walking to the downtown Post Office, and then out to drinks after work, I walked myself home in them as well. I think I put about three miles on them on Friday alone.
And then Saturday rolled along. Ben and I had a busy morning and they powered me up the stairs to drop off calligraphy at a wedding show, into the mall to get Ben new glasses, to the grocery store to buy bagels and lox for our too-much-Friday-beer heads and stomachs. When four rolled around and we needed to get to Toast Portland, the distillery tasting event (more to come on that soon) that I was covering, we decided to take advantage of the bright sunshine and walk the 2.5 miles to the event. I wore these guys - a comfortable shoe that not only looks stylish but can transport me without blisters. We stood all night (a few hours) tasting, sipping, snacking, and chatting with friends, and then, unwilling to wait for a cab, we walked another 2.5 miles back home. In these shoes. By Saturday evening, I'd put a total of 8 weekend miles on these flats.
Today, I went for a hike (not in these shoes, muddy creeks are not for pretty flats), but once we got home, I wore them to stroll the waterfront with Ben in the seventy degree sunshine. Yep! I got another mile on these guys and then they asked for a nap and I had to put them on the shoe rack.
I'm such a walker - to work, to events, to shop, to hang out with friends - that I usually need a pair of shoes that wears amazingly well. I need support, comfort, and style all rolled into one. No one likes carrying around a pair of walking shoes in their purse for quick walks into work! Of these two looks for strolling about on a sunny weekend, which is your favorite?
Dang, girl you walked a lot! I love both looks but the second is my fave mostly because of the bright colors and fun print!

ReplyDeleteGreat seeing you this weekend! I wish I had had more comfy flats on. Lesson learned.
ReplyDeleteLoved running into you on Sat, and I am coveting that kimono jacket
ReplyDeleteLove those flats- they're so chic and the little buckle is such a cute accent. I love the look with the kimono because I think the shirt color really brings out your complexion but the basic striped top is great for an easy look too. So I guess, it's a tie :)
