Returning from Hawaii didn't deter Ben and I from the vacation lifestyle. Ben actually came to pick me up from work yesterday (in the 37 degree rain) in shorts and a Hawaii t-shirt. If you think hard enough about vacation, will it just happen? I found myself looking at plane tickets to anywhere sunny yesterday and had to tell myself to reel it in - we just spend 10 tropical days and not only am I out of money but I'm out of vacation days at work. Boo.

I think that my desire to be in Hawaii is reflected in my current clothing wish list - light, white, rompers, comfortable denim, and sandals. I packed a mostly white suitcase, peppered with bits of denim and printed dresses, for Hawaii as I know that the hot temperatures and humidity cause a lot of stickiness and sweat. There's nothing worse than wearing a non-breathable fabric in a dark color. That sun just beats right down into all-black looks. I spent the majority of the trip in shorts, and coming back here to find rain and 40 degree temps the norm, I've been trying to modify that same tropical look into a jeans-based wardrobe. 

I tried on all of the Gap jeans above before my trip and love their new denim styles. The girlfriend jean and the skinny white jeans are ultra-flattering and come next paycheck, they're going to join my growing jean collection. I've also been obsessed with the Loft's new arrivals lately, especially their more tropical sundresses and eyelet patterns. That long white blouse in the bottom right corner looks truly perfect for any and all occasions this spring. In the accessories department, I've been going basic - simple gold jewelry (no stacking, no bedazzling) and simple leather shoes. My Joie sandals in Hawaii did me well and I'm convinced a nice leather sandal is all one needs to compliment any spring look. Here's to getting some open-toe/sandal weather here in Oregon soon!

This weekend, we're off in search of flowers from the farmer's market, paper for some calligraphy projects, Moscow Mule supplies for our new mule mugs, and are looking forward to spending a lazy day in the chilly weather just dreaming of something warmer. What are you up to?
