Smock It To Me

Dress: c/o Chicwish (on sale!)
Sandals: c/o Rockport (on sale!)

This dress feels rather smock-ish to me. Sometimes I scuff about in it in the house and pretend I have a pottery studio to be working in all day. Some clay to get my hands and dress dirty with. It's rather breezy and boho-y and gives me this feeling of unlimited potential to be someone I'm not. Maybe that sounds weird, but it delivers the same sort of feeling that a killer pair of heels does - the possibility to be someone other than my normal, boring, has-to-do-some-chores-today self.

It has been excruciatingly hot here in Portland. Excruciatingly hot being 90 degrees for two straight days (and 93 tomorrow!). That's too hot for me. Keep it around 84 with very cool nights and some rainy day interruptions and I'm happy. But the mornings are still the perfect summer morning at 70 degrees, with light wind. This dress was the perfect thing to throw on this weekend in the morning when the air wasn't too cloying and I could walk outside without sweating. I took a walk down to a little coffee shop on the waterfront and got myself a muddled strawberry lemonade and watched the boats sail down the river in the morning sunshine on Sunday. It felt good to be outside in such brilliantly nice weather. I just wish Ben was around more to enjoy it with me. But alas, the board exams are calling his name and he still has a week and half of studying to go.

Here's to a beautiful week of weather and a final countdown to Ben's (partial, momentary) freedom!
