I have been so severely neglecting this blog that I feel bad about it, like I feel bad about leaving my cats at home all day without anyone to play with. When I miss a day, or two, or even a week, I think of the people that do read to keep up with my life (well, Ben's life) and feel even worse. But life is for living. And writing about when you have time. And photographing when you have even more time.
So what have we been up to? A lot of busy. Not a lot of relaxation or downtime. Work and medical school (medical school, especially) have been taking a serious physical toll on our household. Ben's recent schedule has been arduous - 4 a.m. wake-up, 5 a.m. to work, home at 8 p.m., to be between 9-10 p.m., to start again. 6 days a week. And then he had a week of nights that just ended, and he has a big exam approaching. Having little time to sleep, eat, and study has been rough. I've been running on Ben's schedule without the 15 hour shifts and with weekends (up early, to work early, and to be early) so that we can spend parts of each day with each other, but it has thrown our bodies and schedules so off! Each day has felt like one exhausting extension of the next. Ben has lost 20 pounds by being unable to eat regularly on his surgery rotation. I have been lonesome and dedicated to my calligraphy work. And our house needs a serious deep cleaning. Today, I actually saved a $29 house cleaning flyer and longingly looked at the picture of a clean kitchen.
Meanwhile, we have two insane cats that are running our (messy, busy) household. Without Ben around to play with them, with my calligraphy business as an actual second job now, the cats spend a lot of time wreaking havoc and chasing each other around... to the detriment of the house. We've had many an incident of flower vases getting knocked over, cats keeping us up all night, and both of them generally behaving badly enough to get on that "Cats are Jerks" video series.
What to expect on the blog in the coming weeks? Posts when I have the time and energy. For more frequent updates, I'm updating my Instagram (personal and calligraphy) with greater frequency. I'll try to keep the posts coming here as well!
